Summary
The Staff Professional supports engineering, geotechnical, and environmental projects through field observations, testing, analysis, reporting, and project coordination. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to safety and quality, and the ability to work effectively in both field and office environments under senior staff supervision.
What you get to do:
- Perform field and laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, asphalt, and other materials in accordance with applicable ASTM standards.
- Observe and document construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, and codes.
- Operate testing equipment, including nuclear density gauges, penetrometers, and concrete testing equipment.
- Prepare accurate, timely field and laboratory reports and technical documentation.
- Assist with project setup, scheduling, site visits, client communication, meetings, and technical reports as experience develops.
- Support project management activities, including billing, budgets, collections, and coordination of field staff.
- Maintain professional client relationships and represent the company positively.
- Assist with proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and business development activities.
- Follow all company safety policies, use required PPE and promote a strong safety culture.
- Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- EIT or GIT certification, or ability to obtain certification within a reasonable timeframe.
- Commitment to pursuing P.E. or P.G. registration when eligible.
- Ability to obtain required certifications, including ACI, ICC, and OSHA 10/30-hour.
- Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
- Ability to perform physically demanding field work, including lifting and handling equipment and materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in both field and office environments.
