IMMEDIATE Senior Grant Accountant position available! We are currently representing a well-established nonprofit organization seeking an experienced Senior Grant Accountant to join their accounting team on a direct-hire (permanent) basis. This role will provide accounting support for grant-funded programs and is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with a strong understanding of grants, contracts, and billing.
The successful candidate will bring strong accounting knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to navigate financial systems while supporting accurate and compliant grant accounting processes.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage accounting activities related to grant-funded programs, ensuring accurate financial reporting and documentation
- Support grant and contract billing processes, including reviewing expenditures and ensuring costs are properly allocated
- Monitor grant financial activity and assist with tracking budgets, expenses, and funding requirements
- Prepare, review, and maintain financial records and supporting documentation related to grants and contracts
- Assist with reconciliations, journal entries, account analysis, and other general accounting functions as needed
- Ensure grant-related transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with organizational policies and funding requirements
- Partner with internal teams to gather financial information and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with financial reporting and documentation required for grant compliance
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting and grant-related processes and contribute to process improvement initiatives
- Utilize Business Central and other accounting systems to maintain accurate financial information
- Learn and adapt to new accounting software and processes as organizational needs evolve
- Maintain organized and accurate records while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced nonprofit environment
- Provide professional communication and support to internal stakeholders regarding grant and accounting matters
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
- Previous experience in accounting, with exposure to grants and/or contract billing strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of grant accounting, grant administration, and contract billing processes
- Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred
- Ability to quickly learn new accounting systems and technology
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement effective solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional demeanor with the ability to work effectively with individuals at various levels of an organization
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working independently while also contributing as part of a collaborative accounting team
- Familiarity with nonprofit organizations, grants, and contracts is highly preferred
- Recent graduates with relevant accounting or grant-related experience are encouraged to apply
