IMMEDIATE Senior Accountant position available! 

Location: Onsite – Jackson, GA (Hybrid after training)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our client in the petroleum industry. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional with prior leadership experience who is looking for a long-term career home. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close, with experience in the petroleum, fuel distribution, or food industries preferred.

This position is primarily onsite. Hybrid flexibility may be available after successful completion of the onboarding and training period (typically 90 days to 6 months), based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including billing, accounts payable, collections, payroll support, and sales tax compliance.
  • Manage the weekly billing process while ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Support collections efforts by preparing reports for management and communicating with customers as needed.
  • Oversee accounts payable, employee reimbursements, and corporate credit card reconciliations.
  • Prepare and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and ensure accurate cash reporting.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules, depreciation calculations, and related journal entries.
  • Manage prepaid expenses, accruals, customer deposits, and other recurring journal entries.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare financial statements and communicate financial results, including profit and loss reporting, to leadership.
  • Assist with audit preparation, supporting schedules, and special accounting projects.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff while helping improve accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with the Controller and leadership team to support strategic financial initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Senior Accountant responsibilities.
  • Previous supervisory or direct leadership experience required.
  • Experience within the petroleum, fuel distribution, convenience store, food manufacturing, or related industries is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, fixed assets, and month-end close.
  • Experience with payroll, accounts payable, billing, collections, and sales tax compliance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with accounting and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
