The Process Engineer supports the facility by developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes for coatings production. This role improves product quality, throughput, safety, and reliability while leading process improvements, capital projects, and cross-functional initiatives. The position partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, R&D, and other stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Summary
The Process Engineer supports the facility by developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes for coatings production. This role improves product quality, throughput, safety, and reliability while leading process improvements, capital projects, and cross-functional initiatives. The position partners closely with Operations, Maintenance, R&D, and other stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
What you get to do:
- Optimize manufacturing formulations, processes, and equipment to improve quality, consistency, throughput, and safety.
- Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Support scale-up and commercialization of new coating products.
- Lead capital projects, including design, installation, startup, and process optimization.
- Coordinate cross-functional projects and communicate effectively with key stakeholders.
- Develop, troubleshoot, and improve process controls, automation, and safety interlocks.
- Lead process safety initiatives, including Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and compliance with applicable safety standards.
- Maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, PFDs, batch instructions, and maintenance procedures.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Train and support Operations and Maintenance personnel on process improvements and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Experience in paints and coatings manufacturing.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience with PLC or DCS programming.
- Experience in PSM and/or GMP-regulated facilities.
- PMP certification or project management experience.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or demonstrated continuous improvement experience.
