Our recruiting team is representing a midsize personal injury law firm in Dallas seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its team. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an accounting professional with strong contingency-fee law firm experience and a proven history of leading an accounting team.

- Compensation: $110,000+ base salary, with bonus potential

What You’ll Do
The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Controller and oversee a six-person accounting function, including both in-office and outsourced team members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review and maintain accounting records using QuickBooks
- Review and calculate monthly bonuses
- Prepare client disbursements for two entities
- Lead, supervise, and develop the accounting team
- Ensure department workload is properly aligned with performance goals
- Cross-train team members and provide training to new employees
- Maintain and update the Chart of Accounts
- Partner with the Controller on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Review financial reports for accuracy and completeness
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records
- Oversee general accounting processes, including accounts payable, cash management, trust accounting, general ledger, fixed assets, time/cost entry, and financial reporting
- Coordinate and supervise account reconciliations, data flow, variance analysis, and timely data capture
- Maintain and improve accounting systems and processes
- Assist with developing and maintaining internal controls
- Coordinate schedules and documentation for annual external audits
- Assist with tax reporting and compliance in partnership with the firm’s external CPA
- Ensure timely bank reconciliations
- Oversee 1099 reporting requirements
- Lead special accounting projects and process-improvement initiatives
- Assist with creating, maintaining, and enforcing accounting policies and procedures
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Previous accounting experience within a contingency-fee law firm — REQUIRED
- Proven experience leading or supervising an accounting team
- 3–5+ years of supervisory/management experience
- Strong understanding of accounting operations and financial controls
- Significant experience working with ERP/accounting systems
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Highly Preferred:
- Personal injury law firm experience
- QuickBooks experience
- ADP experience
- Experience with trust accounting and client disbursements
- Experience supporting audits and tax compliance
