Pay: $31–$33 per hour
Location: Columbia, SC (Travel to active project sites required)
A well-established heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Foreman to lead field crews on grading and site development projects throughout the Southeast. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys mentoring crews, operating equipment when needed, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
-
Lead and supervise field crews while promoting a strong safety culture.

Coordinate daily construction activities to meet production, quality, and scheduling goals.

Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project layouts.

Set up and utilize GPS equipment for field operations.

Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), toolbox talks, and daily safety meetings.

Operate heavy equipment when needed while following OSHA and MSHA regulations.

Coordinate with project management and engineering teams to execute project plans.

Monitor jobsite conditions, identify production challenges, and implement solutions.

Maintain erosion control measures and ensure site compliance.

Complete daily reports, fuel logs, equipment inspections, and production documentation.

Perform routine equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs.

Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in safe working condition.

Keep jobsites organized, clean, and prepared for changing weather conditions.
Qualifications
-
Experience as a Foreman in heavy civil, grading, earthwork, or site development.

Ability to lead crews and maintain productivity in a fast-paced construction environment.

Experience operating heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, and compactors.

Ability to read construction plans and perform field layout.

Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA safety regulations.

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Requirements

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings.

Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.

Willingness to travel to project sites and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
